The 25-year-old yesterday put pen to paper on a twoyear deal at The Northern Echo Arena after leaving Grimsby Town.

Darlington manager Simon Davey said: "He turned down contract offers with two League Two clubs and Grimsby wanted to keep him as well so he's a player who was in demand.

"He's another player who will offer us lots of experience and presence, and provides me with plenty of striking options, with Chris Senior, Curtis Main and Michael Smith all battling for positions."

"I knew the Darlington manager Simon Davey from my time at Barnsley, " said Coulson. "He got in touch and we had a chat about things but I was speaking with Grimsby and it would have taken a lot for me to go anywhere else. He was fine about it and understood where I was coming from."

He had been around Crossmaglen for several months before we arrived and he got to know almost everyone in the village, his Irish background and charm allowing him to establish a relationship and an empathy with the people that was remarkable.

It seems hard to believe now but I would frequently escort him into the village and to one of the bars where he would leave his weapons and radio with me before going into the pub - in full uniform - buying drinks all round and then singing Republican songs along with half of the IRA sympathisers in South Armagh.

Yet, an hour later he would emerge not only sober but in one piece and with all sorts of titbits of intelligence gained. It was one hell of a way to do his job.

1 250g packet vanilla or round wine biscuits

1 cup coconut

Grated rind of a large lemon

100g butter

1/2 can condensed milk

Icing

Juice of one lemon

1 Tbsp butter

1 cup icing sugar

1/ Crush the wine biscuits into coarse crumbs using a food processor. Alternatively, place them in a plastic bag. lay the bag flat on the bench and roll over with a rolling pin.

2/ Place the coarse crumbs into a large bowl and add the coconut.

3/ Wash the lemon, then use the medium-sized holes on a grater to grate all the rind off the lemon. Be careful not to get the white pith off the lemon, as this has a bitter taste.

4/ Add the rind to the biscuit crumbs and coconut.

5/ Melt the butter by placing in a microwave bowl and cooking for 30 seconds on high. wholesale sexy lingerie Alternatively, melt in a small saucepan on the stove.

"The hailstorms at the end of the season took about 20 per cent off the harvest, and although it didn't make prime hard we were quite happy with the Gregory," Mr Anderson said.

The Andersons planted dryland and irrigated crops of Gregory, with both yield tested for entry into the Toowoomba Show crop competition.

The Gregory yield tested at approximately 5.9t/ha (irrigated) and 3.9t/ha (dryland).

The average harvest yields across the whole farm were 4.9t/ha (irrigated) and 3.45t/ha (dryland).

Although the Andersons had grown a seed crop of Longreach Crusader in 2008, this season was the family's first growing EGA Gregory.

"I had heard good reports about it and it fitted the early window due to the cold weather we get in early June," Mr Anderson said.

The irrigated crop of EGA Gregory was double cropped out of soybeans and had a full profile of moisture at planting.

This was followed by approximately 20cm of irrigation through the centre pivot during the crop's life.

The seizure of whisky and vodka bottles was made at Panvel on Sunday after the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad personnel were called in and sniffer dogs pressed into action.

According to the GRP, some passengers in the train informed ticket examiner Ajit Jadhav that two men carrying cotton bags with goods boarded the general compartment of Kochuveli-Dehradun Express (2287 UP) at Madgaon in the wee hours of Sunday. They went into the toilet with the bags. After about 15 minutes, the duo came out with empty bags and alighted from the train.

Jadhav immediately contacted the Konkan Railway control room. Senior police inspector AR Jagtap of Panvel railway police station said that the GRP and Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel were kept on alert at Panvel station.

"With the help of sniffer dogs and BDDS personnel, we cordoned off the general compartment when the train arrived at Panvel at 11.04 am. After thoroughly checking the toilets, 30 bottles of vodka, 40 bottles of Green Label whisky and 454 pouches (90 ml each) of whisky and brandy were found concealed in the space between the plywood and the inner body of the train," said Jagtap.

According to Jagtap, the search team was about to give up seeing an empty toilet. However, when the loose plywood was noticed, they grew suspicious and unscrewed it.

The cost of the seized liqour consignment is estimated at Rs 24,000. The police will destroy the bottles after obtaining permission from the Kalyan railway court, said the police officer.

The police suspect that some gang was involved in smuggling of liqour to Mumbai and other parts of the country from Goa. Liquor is cheaper in Goa than many other parts of the country.

Marlon Donaldson attacked Richard Allen after seeing him and his friends walking past his mother's home wearing a purple bandanna - a colour associated with the A1.

Derby Crown Court heard that Donaldson had been the first to go to the police after witnessing his 15-year-old cousin, Kadeem's, murder. He has since told police he received threats of violence and death from members of the A1, leading up to the trial.

Kadeem was shot dead at Caxton Street recreation ground, Sunnyhill, on November 11, 2008.

The two men convicted of his murder were members of Allenton- based A1 Crew, rivals of the Sunny Hill-based Yunga Browning Circle Terrorists, with whom Kadeem was affiliated.

Donaldson told police that Mr Allen and his friends had been walking past his mother's home and he thought they had looked in the window. He had feared for his and his family's safety. But the court heard that Mr Allen was nothing to do with any gangs and the colour of his bandanna was just a coincidence.

Sentencing Donaldson to six years in jail, Judge Andrew Hamilton said he had considered giving the 19-year-old an indeterminate sentence but had decided not to because of what he had heard about him witnessing his cousin's "tragic death".

He said that if Mr Allen had been a member of the A1 he would understand why Donaldson would regard him as a threat but this would still not justify what he did.

Jonathan Eley, prosecuting, said it was about 6pm on July 15 last year when Mr Allen and three friends were walking along a Derby street and Donaldson came out of his mother's house and "words were exchanged between the two of them".

Mr Eley said Donaldson had asked Mr Allen what he was looking at and said if he wanted to make "something of it" then he should go to a Clip on charms nearby car park. Donaldson had then pulled out "a 12in long machete-type knife" from his waistband and, before Mr Allen could say anything, he slashed it down the side of the victim's face, said Mr Eley.
